Course Overview

What is Architecture? What is an Architect? 

In this introduction to Architecture, students will learn the answers to these questions through discussion, drawing, construction, and design. We will utilize collaborative brainstorming and hands-on projects to gain a better understanding of how and why a structure is designed in a particular way.  Students will be encouraged to express critical thinking and ingenuity.

Student Outcomes: 

  • Students will learn the basic terminology used in architecture and design.
  • Students will gain a new understanding of the structures around them.

Your Teacher: Molly Goecke

Molly Goecke has worked as an instructor of Architecture and Design for over 20 years. She started her journey by participating in the inception and pilot program of the Architectural Education for Children Program at AIA Colorado. She has continued to share her passion for education of architecture for children through her teachings worldwide both online and in person. She received her Master’s of Architecture at the University of Colorado and her Bachelor’s of Environmental Design at Miami University.
