Course Overview
The card game SET is perfect for anyone who considers themselves a “visual person” and enjoys looking for patterns. But did you know that while this game might seem simple on the surface, it has connections to many mathematical disciplines, and game play has even generated new mathematics? In this course, we will learn to master the game of SET, while also exploring the mathematics behind it, including combinatorics and probability.
Student Outcomes:
- Learn to play the game of SET
- Explore various puzzles involving SET cards and create your own SET puzzles
- Investigate the probabilities of different outcomes in SET and use this knowledge to develop a game-play strategy
